CONVERSE CLUB OFFICERS

CLUB HISTORY

The Converse Flying Eagles was established on July 25, 1990 at the Converse Town Hall. There were eleven people in attendance. Officers were elected and the second Thursday of each month was designated as the official day for the monthly meeting. The original officers were President - Ray Mooneyhan, Ron Murphy - Vice President, and Harold Croft - secretary/Treasurer. Ray retired as club President at the end of 2002. Harold Croft passed away several years ago and is sadly missed. Jim Davis made arrangements to use the U.A.W. Hall for the club meeting. At the August Ninth meeting, there were 20 members present. It was then decided by a vote that the club be named "The Converse Flying Eagles R/C Club" It was also decided that the club colors were to be red and white. The club dues was set a $10.00 per year.

The club received the Academy of Model Aeronautics Charter club certificate dated August 6, 1990, club number 2951. At the membership meeting October 11, 1990, Jim Davis was appointed Club Photographer. The club logo was accepted as designed by Mark Mooneyhan. Which pictures an Eagle as the pilot of a Ryan Aircraft, there are 4 colors in this logo. First year achievements for the club were: Membership rose to 40 members and 6 sponsors. Runway lines were painted on the airport R/C flying area. Frequency board for "even" channels was installed, it has sinse been updated to take in account all Model Aircraft Channels. A bulletin board was installed on the north end of the west hanger and a grass runway was added to the site. A club flag and canopy was built. Jackets, T-shirts and hats with the club logo were purchased by the members. The club has grown in membership from those first eleven people to an average 100 people per year.  I might add that the meeting place has now been changed to the Converse Town Hall on the 1st Tuesday of each month at the starting time of 6:00 p.m.
