Feb 20  Marion Mall Show

The mall show was a big success. The participation was small but there were enough members from the Sky Hawks and us to make it a success. There was one thing that I would have changed if I could. I would have loved to display the Mississinewa Skyhawks Banner. It was a Two Club Show and unfortunately the banner couldn't be found.

There were some people who made an extra effort and did more then their part. Dolores Johnson, the wife of Mack Johnson made the best looking signs I have ever seen. They made the trek in from Kokomo.  Mack was the most organized person I have met to date, packed all his planes and copter in his Impala.  Who says you need a trailer?

Ray and Judie Johnson (not related to the previous Johnson's that we know of) brought their Skycycle to display with our planes.  Ray and Judie are the organizers for the Cruse In Fly In held September 4th this year.  It is the most awesome one day event I had the pleasure of participating in last year.  We have a display booth in the pancake breakfast hanger.  Be sure to make plans to participate there this year.  You won't be sorry.

Howard Martz, in spite of just getting out of the hospital, brought his great group of warbirds.  We had enough Gas Engine powered planes to display to form our own version of Gasoline Alley.

Charlie Vermilion did a great job helping organize and set up the event and brought some great looking planes. His U-control plane looked great and was the only one there.

Bill Lugar - what can you say about a guy who brought one trainer to the show. Worked tirelessly and was just as happy to talk to people about his plane as everyone else's.  I would like to give a special thanks to him because he did way more then his share and was a pleasure to be around.

Ron Dale brought his whole hanger it seemed.  By far he covered the types of aircraft more then any of us. He had a Jet, a Glider, several sizes of planes and helicopters.

Roy Fridersdorf (boy I hope I spelled it right) came Saturday morning and brought some small electric stuff. He had the cutest little plane in a box. He flew it around to the amazement of the crowd including myself.

Bob Parker came but since he sold his truck he couldn't bring anything to display.

Ron, Roy, Mack and Bob put on almost an ongoing flying demonstration with small electric planes and helicopters. The crowd was awed by their performance.

There is one more person to thank.  Larry Blanton provided us with some business cards with both clubs, one on each side of it. Very clever and came in handy. Passed out a few myself.

I also had five planes there. Two electrics and 3 gassers.  It took everyone doing a small part to create a big success. We had comments from Mall Personnel who said that they hoped we would come back next year.

The biggest thanks goes to Dianne Hovermale, Marketing Manager for the five Points Mall. She was absolutely easy to work with and provided us with Tables, Stanchions, and even Table Cloths. The Maintenance Crew, Security and our contact, the lady at the Snack Bar provided us with everything we needed and made my job easy.

Thanks to All Without you this couldn't have happened.
